Tendens Pro Concerto is a portable concert piano designed to deliver full musical authority without the mechanical inertia, fragility, and constraints of traditional concert grands.
At almost 3 meters (9′10″), the two-panel Pro Concerto occupies the physical and musical space of a full concert grand. Internally, however, it is built on a fundamentally different principle. Instead of relying on mass, string length, and passive resonance, Tendens achieves projection, clarity, and sustain through an actively controlled soundboard combined with a direct, low-inertia playing system.
The result is an instrument that responds immediately to the pianist’s intent while producing an open, singing sound that carries naturally in large halls.
A Ballistic Instrument — Without Ballistic Constraints
Tendens belongs to the same instrumental family as acoustic pianos.
Both are ballistic instruments.
In a piano, musical outcome is determined by the ballistic launch of the hammer. The instrument responds to the full acceleration profile of the key–hammer system — including timing, curvature, release, and energy transfer — before impact. This continuous physical process contains far more information than a single velocity value and is what allows pianists to shape tone, articulation, and phrasing with precision.
What we call velocity instruments operate on a different principle. They reduce the player’s gesture to an averaged keystroke velocity and trigger a predefined result. This is not a simplified piano, but a different species of instrument, based on abstraction rather than ballistic causality.
Tendens preserves the ballistic principle of the piano. It is played in the same way, with the same physical language and expressive mechanisms — while removing the historical limitations imposed by purely mechanical ballistic systems.
By eliminating unnecessary mass and mechanical inertia, Tendens delivers a faster, more direct response at the keyboard. The instrument reacts without delay or resistance, and without forcing the pianist to compensate through force or strain.
At the same time, projection and tonal authority are no longer tied to physical bulk. Through its Active Soundboard, Tendens produces open, spatial, concert-scale sound without burdening the playing mechanism. Power no longer comes at the expense of control.
Because sound generation is decoupled from sheer size and weight, Tendens is also portable and stable. It can travel, adapt to different acoustic environments, and remain consistent across venues — without sacrificing touch, response, or musical depth.
In this sense, Tendens is not an alternative to the piano.
It is a continuation of the piano family, retaining the ballistic essence while discarding constraints that no longer serve the music.
The Pro Concerto shares its keyboard and action with other Tendens configurations, ensuring system continuity: technique, touch, and timing developed in daily work transfer directly to the concert stage.
Tendens Pro Concerto is built for professional use where sound, response, and reliability are non-negotiable — and where tradition alone is no longer sufficient.

T e n d e n s A c c e s s
Tendens is primarily offered through Tendens Access — a professional access model designed to keep every Tendens instrument in reference condition throughout its life.
Under Tendens Access, the instrument remains Kaduk property and is continuously maintained, calibrated, and updated. Components are serviced or replaced as needed to ensure uninterrupted professional use. This model is intended for institutions, venues, and artists who require maximum reliability, uptime, and consistency, rather than long-term ownership.
Tendens Access includes both long-term reference access and short-term concert deployment. Availability is limited and arranged directly.
Tendens Access programs are not offered through the webshop.
